VDBA Director

Peter S. Su, 2010

Peter S. Su

Welcome to the Virginia Department of Business Assistance and our portfolio of services. For most Virginians, jobs and opportunity means launching a new business venture or expanding the workforce of an existing business. Small business, comprising 97% plus of all Virginia businesses, remains at the heart of the growth, vitality and diversity of Virginia’s economy. Unfortunately, this recession has brought high unemployment, lower profits and a tight credit market to many businesses and their communities throughout the Commonwealth. As the Agency Director of the Department of Business Assistance, I am taking an integrated approach with my professional staff to deliver services that meet the needs of today’s business environment. This means working closely with regional economic development offices, Chambers of Commerce, National Federation of Independent Businesses and Small Business Development Centers statewide on priority issues concerning workforce requirements, business trends, and access to capital. I will also work with existing businesses seeking incentives from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund, Virginia Jobs Investment Program, and the Virginia Small Business Financing Authority.
